We are pleased to be working with Teresa Cranmer & Megan Cowan and the Mustard Seed Peace Project which is a non-profit organization who's mission is to be a vehicle for the development of the child and the promotion of a true and enduring peace in the poorest regions of the world.
At the present time, the MSPP is working with the villagers of Playa Grande, Ixcan, Guatemala to help heal and rebuild from the devastation brought about by 36 years of war. Their goal is to create opportunities for children to receive a well-balanced education in a spirit of peace, dignity, tolerance, cultural and religious expression and equality. The MSPP has purchased over 11 acres of land in Guatemala, and since January 2005 have been working on Phase 1 of their project, which consists of the construction of a children's park, an amphitheatre, and a small house of prayer. In April 2005, the MSPP began working with the Springfield, IL diocese on a clean water system for the community in Playa Grande.
"The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed that a person took and sowed in a field. It is the smallest of seeds, yet when full-grown it is the largest of plants. It becoms a large bush and the birds of the sky come and dwell in the branches." ~ Matthew 13:31-32 |
